Malala visits the White House

Obama family welcomes Malala to the White House

Malala Yousaf Zai survived an assassination attempt on her life a year ago when she was only 14-years-old. Her assailants were the Taliban in Pakistan. Western media reported she was shot in the head because she campaigned against keeping girls ignorant and uneducated. Taliban media in Pakistan does not deny the shooting of Malala. They claim she was shot because she was seen associating with U.S. military personnel. They argue U.S. military drones have killed many Pakistani children and they refuse to accept shame for attempting to kill Malala Yousaf Zai. The Taliban's miscalculation is seen as a mean gesture and does not help the cause of Islam. The Holy Qur'an teach Muslims not to allow the wrong doing of others to cause wrong doing. We are happy that the President of the United States and his family has invited Malala Yousaf Zai to the White House for discussion. May Allah (SWT) give Malala a long and prosperous life. Amin.

Why Malcolm X Was Great And Unique

Submitted by Edgar Pillow in Op-Ed
Do for self as practiced and stressed by Malcolm was not for a few individuals only to achieve, but for the Black masses to gain through self determination and economic independence. Malcolm knew that Black people would always be vulnerable as long as they depended on politicians -- regardless of party label.

An old haven for black separatists

Submitted by Baruti M. Kamau in Op-Ed
The majority of Liberia's founders were former slaves and westernized Christians who envisioned a free republic of black people championing the 19th century American version of Christian values and beliefs in black Africa. Liberia, throughout the 19th century, participated in the liberation of newly captured black African slaves outside its borders and incorporated those people into its settler community. However, Liberia's relationship with native inhabitants was shaky as the republic sought to exact administrative control deeper into the interior.
